THE POACHER'S PATCH Do not forget our own Poacher Magazine. Yes, Poacher's Patch Newsletter is alive and well. All those who went to the Christmas Party received the last issue. But our Editor, Bernie, needs more articles from you. Without these articles there may not be an Anniversary edition. So if you have any interesting articles, jokes, recipes, meet reports, or anything you think other members would be pleased to hear about, then post them off to: Bernie Wilkinson, The Poacher 112 Horncastle Road, Woodhall Spa, LN10 6UX, or Email to: davberniewilkinson@btinternet.com As Web Master, I also need your articles, meet reports, photographs, just about anything interesting. So Please send what you have to me or Bernie and we will make sure each other receives it. The Web Site and the Poacher are for and about you, so with your help we can make them interesting and dynamic. Thank you.

CHAIRMAN'S CHAT Updated 25th May 2010 Dear Members. I hope you are all enjoying the recent spell of good weather. We certainly are. Meet attendances are still low, but improving. We have had some very enjoyable meets so far this year and we are hoping to do something special this year for the Anniversary Meet on the 18 - 20th June. At the A.G.M. we had some long serving members of the committee decide to stand down and not seek re-election. All were thanked and have been written to thanking them all for their role in running the D.A. over the years. We managed to get all committee places filled. I would like to welcome all the new members to the committee; Andy and Nicky Bycroft, Steven Almond and Nick Woodthorpe. Welcome one and all and I hope we have a good year this year. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the present committee for all their hard work put in by all of them during the last year. I could not have done it without you all, my personal thanks go to you all. It not would be the same if I did not mention our Stewards who have done so much hard work this year and we need even more of them this year. You all know what I am going to say, but I am not you all know it off by heart. Bye know.
Lastly thanks' to my long suffering wife Hilary who has
always stood by my side through it all.
Your Chairman, Derek Beaumont. |

SOUTH LINCS DA
CHARITY FOR 2010
The 2010 charity is to be 'LIVES FIRST AID RESPONDERS', which is the Lincolnshire Integrated Volunteer Emergency Services. The choice of charity was proposed by Bernie Wilkinson, who has first hand knowledge of them. Last May, Bernie was taken ill with severe chest pain. Her husband Dave dialled 999 and within 3-4 minutes there was a fire engine on her drive with 2 young fire fighters who were lives trained. After doing lots of different tests, e.c.g. monitoring etc, she was put on oxygen, talked to and calmed her down, reassuring her that all was well. They were really good. By getting to a patient with a heart attack within the first 8 minutes saves lives, as with every minute of delay the patient has 10% less chance of survival. Bernie did not have a heart attack, but multiple pulmonary embolisms and remained on oxygen for the next five days. Fifteen minutes later the Lives Responders were joined by an ambulance crew who took over. LIVES groups operate all over Lincolnshire, they need money to provide more equipment and to train new recruits and are always looking for ways to raise money. To quote Bernie, 'this is a very worthwhile charity. She hopes none of us ever have need of their services, but if you do they are brilliant. They do not always arrive by fire engine, it all depends on who is on duty at the time'.
