LATEST NEWS, VIEWS, & FORTHCOMING MEETS FROM
SOUTH LINCS D.A.

CHAIRMAN'S CHAT

Dear Members, we are starting another camping season and I will look forward to seeing you all on the rally field as often as you can make it this year. We had some really good meets last year and received many e-mails and letters of thanks from many people who camped with us at the Christmas Market, New year, Waddington, Heacham Sports Club, Tennyson High School and Filey to name but a few.

We had a great time and I feel for the people who stayed at home for what ever reason as you really missed out last year. Don’t be the one to miss out this year.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the rest of the committee for all their hard work  help and support through  out the year. Without them I could not have done it , so thank you one and all, and lastly my dear long suffering wife Hilary who has stood behind me all the through my two terms as your Chairman.

Just before I go remember NO STEWARDS NO MEETS

Derek Beaumont - Chairman

SOUTH LINCS DA CHARITY FOR 2010

The 2010 charity is to be 'LIVES FIRST AID RESPONDERS', which is the Lincolnshire Integrated Volunteer Emergency Services.

The choice of charity was proposed by Bernie Wilkinson, who has first hand knowledge of them. Last May, Bernie was taken ill with severe chest pain. Her husband Dave dialled 999 and within 3-4 minutes there was a fire engine on her drive with 2 young fire fighters who were lives trained. After doing lots of different tests, e.c.g. monitoring etc, she was put on oxygen, talked to and calmed her down, reassuring her that all was well. They were really good.

By getting to a patient with a heart attack within the first 8 minutes saves lives, as with every minute of delay the patient has 10% less chance of survival. Bernie did not have a heart attack, but multiple pulmonary embolisms and remained on oxygen for the next five days. Fifteen minutes later the Lives Responders were joined by an ambulance crew who took over.

LIVES groups operate all over Lincolnshire, they need money to provide more equipment and to train new recruits and are always looking for ways to raise money.

To quote Bernie, 'this is a very worthwhile charity. She hopes none of us ever have need of their services, but if you do they are brilliant. They do not always arrive by fire engine, it all depends on who is on duty at the time'.

LIVES You won't realise how important we are until the day you need us!

the South Lincs DA Annual General Meeting

The National Feast of Lanterns 2011 is to be hosted by the Central Counties Region.

Kevin Nicholson is the Security Officer for this event and he is looking for help with the 24 hour security that is required.

Now, we know it is a long way off, but a meet of this size requires a lot of planning. So if you are free during the above dates and would like to help out, please contact Kevin at: security@nfol2011.co.uk or telephone 01522 731249.
